I am completing my Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. I attend school in Western North Carolina and would someday like to return back to my home of Kingsport, TN to practice. I am inquiring if anyone knows how to go about ensuring that my license will be good for the state of TN. I have already taken the Praxis II and will be a Nationally Certified School Psychologist when I graduate in May. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I am also completing my Specialist degree in School Psychology; however I am in Florida. I have very good friends in Kingsport, as well as in Knoxville. I, too, am interested in information regarding licensure/certification in Tennessee. I have talked with the Tennessee Dept of Education, and they were very helpful. However, any other information is welcome! I am completing my Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. I too am in the same boat. I am completing my Ed.S. from Western Kentucky; however, I am doing my internship in TN. From what I can tell, based on speaking with the department of ed, we must complete an out of state teacher's application--which can be found on the department of ed website under educator development. I was told that this process may take a couple of months to go through the licensing committee. My question is whether we have to wait until we have officially received our Ed.S. before we can send in the application.

Yes, you must wait until you receive your Ed.S before you can apply for Tennessee state licensure. You download and print the form and complete the sections that pertain to you. If this is your first licensure application, it should be submitted by your university's licensure representative. I am graduating from a university in TN, but plan to obtain my GA license. Once I obtain the TN license, I was told that then I may submit on my own for a GA license. Hope this helps.

I'm currently working as an early childhood school psychologist in MN. I graduated from one of the Universities in Wisconsin that happened to loose their NASP accreditation after I completed my M.S.E .and practicum (600+ hours), but before I completed my internship (1200+ hours) and subsequent Ed.S. I'm waiting to hear back from NASP about my application for NCSP, but am looking for any advise on getting licensed to work in TN. Any suggestions are welcomed. The TN website is not much help. Any specific suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at luckyladylibra@gmail.com Thanks!
